School of Legal Studies, CMRU, in keeping with its vision of encouraging the production of
professionals who will improve the quality of the legal profession and serve the nation in the
highest traditions of the profession, is organising a National Seminar on “Recent trends in
IPR.”
The seminar will provide the participants with an understanding of IP laws and the extent to
which it protects inventions and designs. Intellectual Property is the root of the intellectual
development of any country. With the drastic development of IPR, there is a vast change in
the old and new approaches. From striking a balance between IP rights protection and public
policy to promoting IP rights education, the Indian legislature has made efforts to implement
better IP rights enforcement and protection. Judiciary has not been far behind in contributing
to the development of IP rights. Litigation regarding trademarks, copyrights, and patents has
setup a new precedent, courts are adopting international principles, and rulings to protect IP
rights from being infringed.
