The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated in the CMR University School of Legal Studies, Bangalore with Prof. Dr. T. R. Subramanya, Dean, CMRUSOLS as the chief guest of the event. Dr. M.P. Hrishikesh, Director, CMR CBS and Prof. M.O.Ravi Chandar, Director, CMR Life Skills Institute. The guests were escorted to the dais by the pilots of NCC and the event began with the warm welcome speech by Prof. V. J. Praneshwaran, Vice Principal, CMRUSOLS. Mr. Rawo Chekasang, Joint Commissioned Officer, Naga Regiment and Havaldar Mr. U. Raju were cordially welcomed by the Chief Guest as guests of honour for the event.
The Tri-colour flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest and national anthem was sung along with the national salute by the NCC Cadets to the unfurled flag, flying high with the morning breeze. On the request of the commanding officer of NCC Contingents, the Contingents were inspected and parade was initiated. Parade was led by the Alpha contingent followed by the Bravo, Charlie and Delta Contingent.
The gathering was addressed by the chief guest after the parade, He addressed the gathering on the Independence struggle and the sacrifices of our great fore fathers. He narrated the Gandhian principles and mentioned the importance of those principles in building the present independent India. He also made mentions of other Freedom fighters, like Sardar Vallabhai Patel and quoted his slogan “One Nation One Constitution”. He concluded his speech with a salute to three great freedom fighters i.e. Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhai Patel and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Speech was followed by scintillating cultural performances by the students. Each performance had moved the gathering and made everyone emotional and sensitive to the national feeling. The program came to an end with the vote of thanks presented by Dr. M.P. Hrishikesh, Director, CMR CBS.
