Profile of Senior Advocate Mr. Niranjan J. Bhatt

Mr. Niranjan J. Bhatt is a senior advocate in Ahmedabad. He is the founder and the Managing Trustee of the Institute for Arbitration Mediation Legal Education and Development (AMLEAD) and a Convener of the Ahmedabad Mediation Centre, and has been conducting training of mediators and awareness, sensitisation and promotional programmes in mediation

He was the convenor of the first lawyer run  Mediation Centre of India in Ahmedabad. Mr. Bhatt received advance mediation training from Harvard Law School PIL Programme and was a member of Indo-US Central Study Team. 


Mr. Niranjan Bhatt is practicing as an Advocate in Gujarat for 64 years and as a Mediator since 2001. He is a member of INDO-US study Team appointed by Chief Justice of Indian Supreme Court in 1995. He was a member of Supreme Court Delegation to US Supreme Court lead by Chief Justice of India’


Mr. Niranjan Bhatt conducted various mediation trainings in Gujarat, Delhi, Bombay, Banglore, Allahabad, Lucknow, Punjab and Haryana and for law students of Law schools at Ahmedabad, Nirma Law Institute, Gujarat National Law School and University of Petroleum and Energy studies at Dehradun.

He was appointed as a co-mediator for Assam-Nagaland Inter State Border Dispute by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.


He also participated in International Mediation Conferences at USA, Australia, Germany and Austria and National Mediation conferences at Delhi and Mumbai, Commonwealth conference at Delhi and Pound Conference at Chandigarh, India

He has written articles on mediation and co-authored a book on mediation with Professor Hiram Chodosh of Case western University of USA. 

He was appointed as chairman of 10 member committee for writing exclusive Mediation Legislation appointed by MCPC of Supreme court of India. He believes that he is still a student of mediation fast developing across the world.
