CYCLE OF LIFE- CYCLOTHON

A cycle rally hosted by Greenpeace India- an environmental organisation, in collaboration with various colleges across Bangalore on the 16th of September was the launch event of the Social Impact club of CMR Law School. The motto of the cycle rally was “Waste to Food” and the objective was to create visibility and spread awareness on the issue of Garbage pill in Bangalore and to promote habits of segregation and composting amongst the responsible members of the society. The members of the Social Impact club were true agents of change as they helped spread the message about segregating, composting and safe food through their cycle rally which started from Decathlon, Whitefield for a distance of about 6kms in and around Whitefield, Bangalore.
Post the cycle rally, the students were escorted to Phoenix Marketcity mall, Whitefield where the volunteers of Greenpeace India displayed a vertical garden consisting of 3000 saplings grown from composted material. Mrs.Shivani Shah, a Food For Life campaigner from Greenpeace discussed the immediate need for waste management in Bangalore and how composting will help in generating cleaner and safer food. Mrs.Padma Patil, a composting champion, was also among the esteemed speakers and she inspired 1200 homes in her apartment to practice waste segregation and composting.
The event was a grand success and the students of CMR Law School did their bit to help create change towards a better, cleaner and safer Bangalore.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

On 11th November 2017, the Social Impact Club hosted a Blood Donation Camp co-organised by Lions Club International. The turnout was unprecedented with 89 willing donors, of which 56 were eligible for donation. 30 volunteers graciously offered to help organise the event without any hassles. The donors were screened and made to undergo various tests to ensure they were eligible to donate blood. The tests for eligibility included hemoglobin count, weight and food intake of each donor. Post the blood donation, the donors were given refreshments to help rejuvenate.
A note-worthy moment is when members of the staff, including the respected Principal and Vice Principal volunteered to donate blood. The donors were awarded blood donation certificates and the volunteers were awarded certificates of appreciation for their valuable service rendered in the camp. Lions Blood Bank was more than willing to make the voluntary blood donation in CMR Law School an annual affair.
