Nidhi Sahay is a 5th year BBA.LL.B student of CMR Law School, Bangalore, who has been ardently debating from past nine years which facilitated her in becoming the first ever President of the Debate and Model United Nations Club of CMR Law School, consecutively from the past two years. She has participated in almost every prestigious Debate competitions across the nation, which is over twenty five in number.She has over seventeen wins in her kitty and now aspires to broaden her avenue in international debate tournaments as well. Having done six moots over the span of three years, she is a diligent mooter who has brought laurels to our college by winning five prestigious moots and also the ‘Best Advocate Award’.
Her core debating skills are argumentation and policy analysis disassembling which she mentors numerous wishful debaters in the art of public speaking and debating. Her objective for the Club is to inculcate the art of expressing ones opinion, without hesitation but backed with factual accuracy and effective skills.
Jason Robert, a 4th year BA LLB student is a well-known face in the Model UN circuit in the city. His knack for diplomatic relations has garnered him numerous accolades. He is an experienced debater, having participated in a lot of debates and Parliamentary debate competitions. So far, he has a few wins under his belt and still counting. He is known for his humor, tact and cool use of logic in the face of fire. His keen interest in history and literature has come in handy in his debating skill. His analytical skills and structured argumentation style make his debates enjoyable to watch. He has also helped mentor first time debaters. His objective for the club is to provide a safe learning platform for novice debaters and to help the members speak freely and confidently in public. Apart from debating, he also has a flair for the arts and one can see him shine on stage.
Our Faculty Coordinator
Mr. Sreenidhi K.R. is currently working with CMR Law School as an Asst. Professor, and is the Faculty in-charge for the Debate and Model UN Club. He is an LLM Graduate and a UG NET qualified, who’s been teaching for over a decade. He served as a part of the Research & Drafting Unit at LEX PARLE , has been a Member of the Editorial Board, Karnataka Civil And Criminal Reporter and had taught as a visiting faculty at ICFAI Law School Teaching Constitutional Law and Muslim Law.
Complementing his congeniality he has conducted various Workshops and Guest Lectures at prestigious Law Colleges around the State. He is himself, an acclaimed Debater and Mooter of his time and has been Judged numerous competitions such as The 1st GNLU International Moot Court Competition. He now shares the passion to pass down the legacy to his students, through his guidance and Omni-present support.
CMRLS Asian Parliamentary Debate, 12th and 13th April, 2017
The inaugural edition of CMR Law School Asian Parliamentary Debate 2017 flagged off on the 12th of April 2017 and witnessed the participation of 22 teams from top colleges in the city including NLSIU, Bishop Cottons, ULC and School of Law, Christ University. The core adjudicators included Mr Karthik, Mr Nishanth S and Mr Ashwij Ramaiah who are experienced debators and have established themselves as exemplary adjudicators in various debate competitions. The day began with the briefing by the core adjudicators and was followed by the demo debate simultaneously to which the adjudicators’ test was conducted. Following this, the first two preliminary rounds were held until 5pm. The latter part of the day witnessed the culturals and the break night party saw the DJ Joshua and DJ Melvin bring the house down with their crazy beats and foot tapping tracks.
